Book of scars by themothgirl Book of scars by themothgirl
Some pages from the 'Book of Scars'. (photographs + short explanations of how people got their scars, with some collage/mixed media elements).
I have a fascination with scars and have been wanting to make something along these lines for years now, & finally got round to it last year. Considering adding to it in the future....

That is such a good idea. I feel inspired to do something like that for memories now! I love it! And I love customising books too! I am doing a customised book on the Manic Street Preachers as a present for my boyfriend currently. Books are fun! X X X

I imagine some of those stories must be painful to tell--to hear. Some scars are story books all their own, you know.
I like the concept, though honestly I would never think to ask anyone about the stories behind their scars; I['m too busy listening to my own.

hey! thanks for the comment. Yeah, at first i was wary about asking people since scars can have such painful stories; however i was pleasantly surprised to find that most people approached me quite ready to talk about them. I think the majority found it quite cathartic to tell their stories. Plus, its something most of us have, and it got people communicating. x

Are the collages beside the photos representative of how the person got the scar, or something along those lines?

Hello! To a certain extent, yes - i asked each person to write how they got their scar, and stuck that writing in; the rest of the collage elements were largely inspired by their story or their personality, or sometimes visually to create an interesting comparison/contrast with the photograph :)

Reminds me of a song by Stannard Ridgeway from the album "PartyBall". One of my favorites because they let him take the good stuff.

Great job with this.
